Age Concern Eastbourne, with funding from the National Lottery 'Big Lottery Fund' are expanding their highly successful Shed project to Langney, but just what is the Shed?
The opening of the new Langney Shed was marked by a visit from Eastbourne's MP, Stephen Lloyd, who explained why he is a supporter of their work. "It is absolutely fascinating to visit the site of the Langney Shed at the Priory. The work so far has absolutely transformed what had been cow sheds for years into an excellent facility for the Shed projects, run by Age Concern, Eastbourne. The Sheds provide a space for older people to meet, socialise, share skills, and get involved in 'make and mend' projects. I think it is absolutely brilliant and will follow on from the success of their original Shed in Fort Lane."
The new shed is situated in the grounds of Langney Priory which dates back to the 12th Century, but why base it here?
The project relies heavily on the support of local businesses like CDS Electrical who together with the support of Rexel and Phase Electrical supplied and fitted the electrics.
If you, or if you know of someone who might be interested in coming to the Shed, pop down and have a chat with Andy Fisher on the Priory site or visit their Facebook page "Langney Shed" . The Shed is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
